Interns Volunteer at the Children and Family Urban Movement

June 28, 2018

On Monday, June 25, a group of Casey's summer interns volunteered at the Children and Family Urban Movement in Des Moines. There they worked with children of varied ages, from Kindergarten through 5th grade. One volunteer, Gina, enjoyed seeing the kids interact with everyone, "I saw the children building positive connections with their peers, leaders, and the volunteers. They were very welcoming, wanting us to join in with them in their activities."

The intern group assisted the children with reading and writing, and they even got to play kickball! Later on, they were able to have lunch with some 4th grade leaders, which really gave them a chance to connect with this group of kids. Another volunteer, Matt, reflected on the experience, "All throughout the day, the kids were smiling and having fun, which made it all worth it."

At the end of the day, the interns felt the small difference that their visit had made. Kyle shared, "I think spending one day with them provided a positive impact, and it inspires me to continue to be involved with the community."

Thank you to our Casey's interns for taking the time to make an impact.
