Casey's Volunteers with Meals from the Heartland

Casey's Employees Volunteering with Meals from the Heartland

July 18, 2018

On Tuesday, a group of 60 people from multiple organizations volunteered at the Iowa Speedway for Meals from the Heartland. In just two hours, the volunteers packaged a total of 25,000 meals.

The meals that the group packaged are called “Hearty Packs,” a soy and rice mix with vitamins, minerals and dried vegetables. Each pack can serve up to six people.

To assemble these packs, small assembly lines measure each of the ingredients, pour them into bags and weigh for consistency. The bags are immediately sealed and boxed, ready to be shipped to communities in need.

A sincere thank you goes out to all of the volunteers, the Iowa Speedway for hosting the event, and Meals from the Heartland for providing the food and supplies.
